WORLD IN MOTION EVENTS FOR KIDS:
Art is a safe and easily-accessible means of creative learning for children at all developmental levels. Through the arts, children learn to convey their thoughts and ideas in numerous ways while benefiting from the extra sensory stimulation. It is a treasure chest for positive psychology: allowing free expression of emotions, and the development of self-reliance and pride in one’s work.
The Visual Arts program provides a wealth of opportunities in exploring the many media art has to offer – instructions range from traditional hands-on arts (drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking) to modern visual arts (photography and video) to design, and to crafts. Cultural connections are drawn as students join us on a globe-trekking adventure to gain inspiration and knowledge from the many different peoples and places around the world.
This program is open to children of all developmental stages. Lesson plans and teaching are adapted to the educational needs of each child.
Wednesdays 4:30-6:00pm at Island School (20 Borrett Road)
$2400 per term (6 classes)
Next term begins May 4th (May 4, 11, 18, 25, June 1, 8) – ENGLAND
WORLD IN MOTION'S SALAD SUMMER 2011:
World in Motion offers adventure seekers a golden opportunity to travel to destinations – both near and far – during the holiday seasons. A new country is explored each week and young travelers are immersed in a colorful mixture of music, dance, drama, arts and crafts, cooking, group games, and community trips.
Envious parents and caregivers will have to live vicariously through the travelers as they return home at the end of each day with a suitcase full of knowledge, and passports and travel journals to share their experiences. Photographs are also shared on a regular basis to facilitate communication at home.
Holiday programs are open to children of all developmental stages. Lesson plans and teaching are adapted to the educational needs of each child. Please note that a parent or caregiver is required to accompany the student on all field trips.
Upcoming Holiday Programs:
Monday to Friday with AM and PM sessions for different age groups:
10am to 12:30pm for students 7 – 12 years of age, and 1pm to 3:30pm for students 4 – 6.*
$2800 per week (4 two and a half hour classroom sessions, and 1 extended five-hour community trip day – with AM and PM classes combined).
*While it is ideal that students mix with others around the same age as themselves – with our volunteers being briefed on age appropriateness when spending time with the children – we do understand that given the children we love and work with, they do have varying verbal and behavioral skills that are not defined by their numerical age; therefore, after informal assessment, some students may be recommended to join either AM or PM classes depending on their social developmental level.
